This page is about the Hiero app, made by [VOLLEDIGE NAMEN].
Short version
- Hiero is only for people aged 18 and older.
- We have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation. This includes child sexual abuse material (CSAM).
- If you see something, report it in the app or email [NAAM, E-MAIL].
- We remove it, delete the account and report it to the police and to the Offlimits hotline.
Hiero is 18+ only
- When you sign up you enter your date of birth. If you are under 18, you cannot create an account. The database checks this too, not only the app.
- In the app stores, Hiero is listed as an app for adults (18+).
- If someone looks under 18, you can report it with the reason “Looks under 18”. We then look at the account and delete it if the person is a minor.
What is banned
On Hiero it is always banned to:
- post, share, ask for or link to child sexual abuse material;
- sexualise children, in text, photos or any other way;
- seek contact with a minor with a sexual intent (grooming);
- pressure someone with sexual images (sextortion);
- exploit or traffic children, or help others do so;
- invite minors to a quest, or post a quest aimed at minors.
This is also in our terms of service: https://[DOMEIN]/en/terms.
How to report
- In the app: tap “Report” on a profile, quest, photo or chat message. Choose the reason “Child safety” or “Looks under 18”.
- By email: [NAAM, E-MAIL]. You do not need an account.
- Without an account: through the form at https://[DOMEIN]/en/report or the “Report” button on a quest’s share page. For a report about child sexual abuse you do not have to give your name.
- Is a child in immediate danger? Call 112.
- Report anonymously outside Hiero: at the Offlimits hotline, https://meldpunt.offlimits.nl.
Never forward abuse material yourself, not even to report it. Describe what you saw and where.
What we do
With every child safety report:
- We look at it right away, before all other reports.
- We make the material inaccessible and remove it.
- We delete the account and do what we can to stop the person from coming back.
- We report it to the Dutch police and to the Offlimits hotline (formerly the Expertisebureau Online Kindermisbruik, EOKM). Where relevant, we also report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) in the United States.
- We keep data needed for an investigation only when the law requires it or the police ask for it, and no longer than needed. We do not make copies of the material ourselves.
- We cooperate with the police and immediately carry out orders from the Dutch Authority for Online Terrorist and Child Sexual Abuse Material (ATKM).
We follow the child safety laws that apply to us, in the Netherlands and in the EU.
How we prevent it
- 18+ only, with a date of birth check at sign-up and in the database.
- There are no private messages between strangers. Chat only happens in a quest’s group chat, with the host and the people who were accepted, and only from 1 hour before the start until 1 hour after the end.
- Quests take place in public places.
- A word filter blocks texts that point to child abuse. [CHECK: only keep if built]
- New photos are reviewed. [CHECK: only keep if built]
- Anyone can report any profile, quest, photo or message.
