Delete your Hiero account

This page is about the Hiero app, made by [VOLLEDIGE NAMEN]. It explains how to delete your account and your data, also if you no longer have the app.

In the app

  1. Open Hiero and go to [Profile > Settings > Delete account].
  2. Read what will be deleted and confirm.
  3. You are logged out. Your account is no longer visible to others right away.

Want a copy of your data first? Download it beforehand under [Profile > Settings > Download my data].

Without the app

  1. Send an email to [CONTACT E-MAILADRES], from the email address of your Hiero account.
  2. Use the subject: “Delete account”.
  3. We send a confirmation to the same address. Sometimes we ask you to confirm a code. That way we know for sure it is your account.
  4. We delete your account and let you know when it is done.

What we delete

  • Your account and your email address
  • Your profile: first name, profile photo, bio, languages, date of birth and gender
  • Your quests, with their photos, rough area and exact spot. Quests that have not started yet are cancelled. People who joined get a notification.
  • Your requests and participation, your check-ins and your counters
  • Your chat messages
  • Your push tokens and your notification settings
  • Your blocks

We ask the companies that work for us (such as Supabase) to delete your data as well.

When

  • Your account is no longer visible to others right away.
  • Within 30 days everything is permanently deleted.
  • Your data stays in our backups until they are overwritten, within [X BACKUP] days. We only use backups to restore the app after an outage.

What we keep (for a while), and why

  • Abuse reports. If someone reported you, or you reported someone, we keep that report and what we did about it for up to 12 months after the report was closed. This helps us stop someone who broke the rules from coming straight back, and lets us explain our decision if someone objects.
  • Security logs with IP addresses, for up to [X LOGS] days.
  • Data the police or a court asks us for, only for as long as needed.
  • Your email with the request, for up to 12 months after we handled it, so we can show that we carried out your request.

Chat messages are deleted 48 hours after a quest ends anyway.
